We received the letter below from Mahendra Dinesh who recently got a “bill shock” from U Mobile. It appears that the free minutes to other operators included in the New Postpaid Plan does not consider Telekom Malaysia as a “local operator”.
As per the image above, U Mobile indicated that the free minutes are applicable from “U Mobile to Other Operators” which may include IDD calls as well. For a clear understanding, we checked the FAQ section of the New Postpaid Plan and it does mention “U Mobile to Other Local Mobile Operators”, however it would be much better if U Mobile could list down the operators so that it does not confuse the people.
We have reached out to U Mobile for a comment last Wednesday but they have yet to provide an official response. We think Mahendra deserve a reply from U Mobile and should be compensated for the inconvenient caused.
To prevent this from happening again, we hope all consumers out there would take some time to read the FAQ and Terms & Conditions before signing up with any of the Telcos. Check out the full letter below.

Hi U Mobile Team,
Disappointed….
This is what I truly feel about U Mobile service on my U58 package.
I was informed by the U Mobile Center at Johor Jaya, JB that I have 200 minutes to call “Other Operators” but was never informed that calling local TM number I would be charged!!!
What a shock I got to finally to see in my itemised bill (after requesting itemized bill because I was wandering why my bill was high).
U Mobile, please buck up and state clearly on your promotion packages on the New Postpaid Packages on this matter. I truly think this poor marketing method and pulling people into the package is not U Mobile style.
I am considering to move back to Celcom as I always get a clear picture on their services. No hidden charges like U Mobile.
On another matter, I have send out a few feedback from their page but have not received any feedback from U Mobile. I truly wander if U Mobile team is actually monitoring this page.
Regards,
Mahendra Dinesh
