Samsung says global sales of its Galaxy S III smartphone have surpassed 20 million worldwide, within 100 days(about 3-months) after launched.
It was last reported in May that Samsung received over 9 million pre-orders from 100 carriers for its third-generation Android Galaxy S smartphone. In comparison, the Galaxy S II took almost 4-5-months to sell the 1st 10 million units globally.
According to one report, the Samsung Galaxy S III outsold Apple’s iPhone 4S in August to become the top-selling smartphone in the U.S. An analyst’s report said the South Korean company’s Galaxy S III was the top-selling phone for Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile and the second-highest-selling phone for AT&T.
In another report, Strategy Analytics says Samsung overtook Apple in worldwide smartphone shipments in 2011.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been available in Malaysia since late May with a recommended retail price of RM2199.
