UBS financial analytics estimate that Samsung Electronics will sell 61.5 million units of smartphones in the October-December period this year, up 5 percent from an estimated 58 million in the previous quarter.

The firm said that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will be one of the main contributor the sales.
“The Galaxy Note 2 has shipped 3 million units in its first five weeks of sales, with sell-through strong in Asia and Europe, and the U.S. gathering pace post-launch,” said Nicolas Gaudois, an analyst at UBS. “We hence forecast 7 million Galaxy Note 2, compared to our initial expectation of 5 million for the fourth quarter.”
The news report from Yonhap News Agency claims that the Samsung Galaxy S III sold 5.5million units in October alone.
Next week, Samsung is set to launch the Android-powered Galaxy Camera in Malaysia and in other countries. The company is also expected to make available the Windows-powered Samsung ATIV S in December in Malaysia. However according to reports, its ATIV S may have less impact in sales figures.
Samsung is already the world largest mobile phone & smartphone vendor. The Korea-based electronics giant overtook Apple in the first three months of the year to become the world’s largest smartphone vendor and ended Nokia’s14-year run as the largest maker of all phone handsets by volume, according to research firm Strategy Analytics.
