Malaysia Broadband service provider, Packet One Networks (P1) is making its services available to 3000 households and commercial buildings in Kuching(Sarawak). The broadband service will be available starting tomorrow in stages around Padungan Bazaar, Sekama Bazaar, Jalan Foochow and Bormill Estate area.
P1 said in a statement that it plans to cover 60% of Kuching’s population by mid next year, and further extend its coverage to Miri, Sibu and Bintulu by September 2013.
Initial broadband service that will be offered include its ForHome and ForBiz plans, which are fixed access 4G wireless broadband services that come with WiFi and phone service. As opposed to fixed line broadband available in Kuching, it is a plug-and-play broadband solution that can be activated in an hour without the need for service installation and wiring. It is also a portable solution that can be used in more than one location as long as there is network coverage.
According to Michael Lai, P1’s CEO who was named PIKOM ICT Personality of the Year 2012, “East Malaysia will be a key market for P1”. He said, “We believe there is pent up demand for high quality and affordable broadband which we aim to fulfill and are really happy and excited to be here finally.”
Kuching residents who are interested to find out more can log on to the P1 website. Customers can heck service availability for their area, perform online sales chat, get access to roadshow schedule or to register interest.
