Enabling Asia Tech Sdn Bhd (EA) today launched its MVNO(Mobile Virtual Network Operator) service called Buzz Me in Malaysia.
At the launch, EA also signed an exclusive agreement with 3G operator U Mobile. As part of the agreement, U Mobile will provide network connectivity for Buzz Me and other MVNOs that are expected to be launched within the next 12-months.
“We are confident of launching mobile services for five brands within 12 months. We are in talks with companies who are impressed with the proven model overseas where Mobile Virtual Network Operators or MVNOs are prevalent and profitable,” said EA’s Chief Executive Officer, Loke Yee Siong adding that successful MVNOs include Tesco Mobile and Ikea Family in the UK, as well as 7-Connect by 7 Eleven in Singapore.
Buzz Me is a prepaid mobile services, available in two starter packs priced at RM10(RM8 credit) and RM30(RM30 credit) with the prefix 011-34. Buzz Me has a flat voice call rate at 13 sen/30sec(26sen/min) and 10sen per SMS to all local networks. Mobile Internet is charged at 5sen/MB.
The prepaid service also offers loyalty points. For every ringgit used, Buzz Me customers enjoy 20% back as reward points(no expiry) which can be used at the M8 marketplace loyalty website which offers amongst others, mobile phones from Samsung, Nokia, Sony and Blackberry, cameras, electrical appliances and many more.
“We have invested RM20 million to provide the necessary infrastructure and hosted systems, and expect to invest another RM5 million next year. Our business model has also been carefully crafted to pay close attention to the way consumers transact purchases online, and we ensure that our customers have access to the best distribution channels possible,” he elaborated.
EA’s customers have access to more than 10,000 distribution channels nationwide including convenience stores, petrol marts, pharmacies, hypermarkets and mobile phone dealers.
EA has also partnered with Sisteer, the leading technical enabler in France, which has experience in developing MVNAs and MVNOs in over 30 countries.
