Dato’ Sri Shazalli Ramly, Chief Executive Officer of Celcom Axiata Berhad was present to accept the award on behalf of Celcom from the night’s guest of honour Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid, Chairman of Permodalan Nasional Berhad.
Dato’ Sri Shazalli said, “We are honoured to be recognised as the Mobile Service Provider of the Year and Broadband Service Provider of the Year again for the fifth and second time respectively. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Celcom customers – over 12.7 million of them – for the unwavering support and loyalty they have shown to us. These awards are also a testament to the hard work and dedication shown by Celcom’s management and employees as well as the excellent guidance provided by our parent, Axiata Group Berhad.”
“Celcom would also like to extend our warmest gratitude to our mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) partners, namely Tune Talk, Merchant Trade, XOX, Redtone, and Smart Pinoy, whose vision and trust in our cutting-edge infrastructure and excellent nationwide network have allowed us to clinch the Telecommunications Wholesale Service Provider of the Year award tonight. We hope to continue providing even more opportunities for them to participate and flourish within the industry for the greater benefit of Malaysian consumers,” added Dato’ Sri Shazalli.
“A well-designed and comprehensive targeted marketing approach was the keystone to Celcom’s success. Celcom not only segmented its market perfectly but also launched products and services which offer good value to those targeted segments. Consequently, in order to create awareness and reach those segments effectively, Celcom initiated various marketing road shows and campaigns such as the ‘Data Ubiquity’ drive and I love Tablet fair. All in all, a well laid-out strategy proved successful for Celcom,” commented Nipun Jaiswal, Industry Analyst – Asia Pacific ICT Practice of Frost & Sullivan.
