DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (DiGi) has introduced the MyAndroid concept in Malaysia, with the unveiling of its pilot MyAndroid Hub retail space at the DiGi Store in Sunway Pyramid yesterday.
The mobile operator said that the MyAndroid Hub in Sunway Pyramid offers customers a total Android retail and learning experience within the DiGi Store. It enables a fun and interactive hands-on discovery of Android apps, services and devices, and DiGi plans available for the latest Android devices.
Customers will also benefit from the “Geek Squad”, in-store experts that provide before and after sales support for Android devices, such as helping customers choose the right device, set-up accounts, customise devices, and recommend Android apps that best suit them.
DiGi will be offering special in-store promotions in conjunction with the launch, where customers can:
- Enjoy a 25% discount off all accessories on 9th September, and
- Own a HTC Desire S free with DiGi Smartplan 68 or HTC One X at RM499 with DiGi Smartplan 68 between 9-15 September 2013 (terms and conditions apply).
“Our focus has always been to make it easier for customers to enjoy a better mobile experience with DiGi by tailoring our products and services to suit our customers’ specific needs – this time, for everything related to the Android-platform,” said Albern Murty, DiGi’s Chief Marketing Officer.
“Given the growing popularity of Android among Malaysians, we are positioning ourselves to take the lead in meeting our customer’s Android needs and introducing the retail experience in-store is just one part of this concept.” He added that the MyAndroid concept consists of DiGi’s retail and online channels, providing the latest selection of Android devices, best internet plans and device expertise for Android.
Albern continued, “Through this collaboration, we believe more people will now be able to enjoy mobile internet on Android devices, given the services to help them select internet plans and apps that best suit their lifestyles, and maximise their device capabilities.”
Similar Android-related concepts have been introduced by telco operators globally in Japan, Australia, Indonesia, India and the United States.
The “MyAndroid experience” is also available online at the DiGi website.
DiGi expects to introduce MyAndroid Hub to more DiGi Stores nationwide by the first quarter of 2014.
