Brightstar Corp. announced that it has signed a multi-year agreement to provide Malaysia-based mobile network operator, Maxis, with next-generation mobile device services.
The new agreement builds on the logistics services Brightstar has provided Maxis since 2007. Brightstar will deliver a range of supply chain services, including logistics, strategic sourcing and device portfolio management, along with specialized value-added services, like buy-back and trade-in and handset insurance. Brightstar will also drive and implement an innovation roadmap for new Maxis products.
“Being selected to integrate multiple services by an innovative market leader like Maxis is an excellent opportunity for Brightstar,” said Marcelo Claure, CEO of Brightstar Corp. “We look forward to bringing even greater innovation to the Malaysian marketplace, and showing how integrated services provide even more value than standalone. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.”
Brighstar said that the new platform will help Maxis improve device availability, optimize working capital requirements, improve channel sales performance and combat competitive pressures.
“Brightstar has a track record of consistent supply chain performance with Maxis and a deep understanding of our business strategy, needs and opportunities,” said Morten Lundal, CEO of Maxis Bhd. “We are confident our partnership will allow us to further our leadership role in delivering the best mobile experience in Malaysia.”
Both companies did not disclose any financial details or the value of the agreement.
Brightstar Corp claims itself as the world’s largest “specialized wireless distributor”, serving mobile device manufacturers, wireless operators and retailers, with a local presence in more than 100 countries. The company offers value-added distribution, supply chain solutions, handset protection and insurance services, buy-back and trade-in solutions, multi-channel retail solutions and financial services.
