Albern Murty has been promoted the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Digi, effective April 1, 2015. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Telco.
The appointment makes Albern Murty the 1st Malaysian to become the CEO of Digi. He will be replacing current Digi CEO Lars-Ake Norling, who will be appointed CEO of dtac (Total Access Communication PCL), Telenor Group’s business unit in Thailand. Telenor Group owns 49% of Digi.

Albern Murty has been with Digi since 2002. He was appointed Chief Operating Officer on January 1, 2014. As Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) prior to this position he was responsible for driving the company’s overall revenue growth. He has held previous management roles as Head of Strategy & New Business, and Co-Chief Marketing Officer. Before Digi, Albern Murty held key business and commercial management roles in Lucent Technologies across the Asian region. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Bachelor of Science in Advertising Management from Portland State University, Oregon, USA, and has completed executive management programmes at INSEAD and London Business School.

Digi is the third largest Telco in Malaysia with a subscriber base of 11.4 million as of 2014.
