MaxisOne Plan Start postpaid quietly launched, RM58/month

Maxis has quietly made available a new postpaid plan called MaxisONE plan starting on 19 March last week. No official announcement from Maxis at the point of writing.

The new postpaid, part of the MaxisOne plan, offers the lowest monthly fee among the plans at RM58 a month. Details below.

MaxisONE plan start:

  • Unlimited calls to Maxis/Hotlink numbers
  • Unlimited SMS to Maxis/Hotlink numbers
  • 15sen/min to other network
  • 10sen/SMS to other network
  • 25sen/MMS to within Maxis network and 50sen/MMS to other network
  • Free 100MB
  • RM38/day data roaming in 106 countries

As part of its terms and conditions for unlimited calls and SMS, the Telco stated that it will terminate, discontinue or disconnect the service for “excessive usage”. However the “excessive usage” is not defined.

The MaxisOne plan was 1st launched as Maxis ONEplan in May 2014. It later changed the name of the postpaid plan to MaxisOne Plan because WiMAX operator Packet One (P1) had earlier trademarked the name OnePlan in Malaysia.

Apart from the MaxisONE plan start, there’s also the MaxisONE plan (RM128/month) and MaxisONE plan lite (RM78/month). The major differences are: MaxisOne plan comes with unlimited calls/SMS to all networks, 2GB of data while MaxisOne plan lite comes with unlimited calls/SMS to Maxis/Hotlink number, 1GB of free data.

For those who wants a one time data booster, they can choose to go for 200MB(RM10), 500MB (RM20) or 1GB at RM30. MaxisONE plan users who exceed the allocated data quota will experience a throttled Internet speed at 64Kbps. There’s also the Monthly Data Add-on of 3GB and 6GB for RM58 and RM116 a month respectively.

More details on the Maxis website.

P.s: As a feedback, we told the Maxis product team in May 2014 that the MaxisOne plan should offer the lowest call/sms rate in the market since it is targeted to people who use more calls/SMS. Unfortunately, at 15sen/min and 10sen/SMS to other network, Maxis didn’t take our suggestion. U Mobile’s new postpaid and PREPAID plans offers one of the lowest call rate in the market at 10sen/min. SMS is 3sen within network and 8sen to other networks.
