Digi.Com Bhd and its subsidiary Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd announced the appointment of Morten Karlsen Sørby as Chairman of the Board. Sørby’s appointment is effective immediately, and he succeeds Sigve Brekke who assumed the position of President and CEO of Telenor Group earlier this week.
Morten Karlsen Sørby is Telenor Group’s Head of Region Asia and a member of its Group Executive Management team. A Norwegian national, Sørby joined Telenor in 1993 and has held a number of senior positions. He has in his capacity as Executive Vice President served as Head of Norwegian Market from 2003 to 2005, Head of Nordic Operations from 2005 to 2009, Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Development from 2009 to 2011, and Head of Strategy and Regulatory Affairs from 2011 to 2013. He was Chief Executive Officer of Uninor, India in 2014.

Sørby was appointed as a Director of Digi in March 2013. He holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Karlstad, and has completed additional education from IMD in Switzerland.
