redONE offers free The Star ePaper, with its phone bundle program

redONE Network Sdn Bhd is collaborating with one of Malaysia’s leading English newspaper, The Star to offer free annual subscription of The Star ePaper. redONE is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), currently the only MVNO to offer a postpaid service in Malaysia.

Through this collaboration, any customer who signs up for a redONE phone bundle program with at least 3GB of data a month, will automatically qualify for a free annual subscription to The Star’s ePaper. Users will be able to download an exact replica of the daily print version on their smartphone via The Star’s mobile app, which is available on Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

Some of the Huawei devices that are currently being offered as part of the redONE phone bundle program include the Huawei P8 Lite, Huawei Mate 7 and others.

A yearly subscription to The Star’s ePaper usually costs RM180. Through this offer, redONE users will be able to download the daily ePaper, get a new Huawei smartphone or tablet, enjoy unlimited free on-net calls and 3GB of data every month, for a monthly usage commitment of RM88 a month, redONE said in a statement.

Features of The Star ePaper app, according to The Star:

  • Readily available at 7.00 am every day, wherever you are
  • Audio reader reads the news to you while you multitask
  • Share the articles with your family and friends via Facebook, Twitter and e-mail
  • Articles are presented in two easy-to-view formats: newspaper and text
  • Zoom in on the news stories and articles for a better read
  • Access to tools like bookmarks, advanced search, and article ranking

redOne told MalaysianWireless that it will soon offer a similar bundling offer with Malay newspaper, Sinar Harian and Chinese newspaper, Sin Chew Daily.
