Digi WWWOW Awards 2015 Winners announced

Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd announced the winners of the Digi WWWOW Awards 2015 yesterday, recognising 100% user-generated entries showcasing “incredible creativity, ingenuity and entrepreneurialism using the Internet in extraordinary ways” to inspire others.

Themed “Taking Ideas Further,” the awards saw over 750 entries submitted and featured an interesting “elevator pitch” session – where finalists literally went through a one minute elevator ride and were required to pitch their ideas to the panel of judges.

Video & Photography
The Userguide Films – The Userguide Films, founded by two inspiring individuals, to make an impact in the film community by producing quality videos and content as well as to help train and inspire other young film-makers to tell stories.

Social Influencers
Azalia Suhaimi – Azalia Suhaimi is a crafty mom who specializes and is passionate about photography, poetry, food art, and toddler arts & crafts. She began documenting her daughter via a hashtag called OrkedsHand on her Instagram account. OrkedsHand is a photography series that has helped parents, especially mothers, with playing ideas for their little ones.

Independent Publishers
One Online – One Online created a platform (a mobile friendly website) that crowd sources content to advocate thought-provoking ideas and uplifting stories related to unity and nation building; broader themes are Unity, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Economy, Mature Democracy and Education. With over 50 writers contributing to ONEonline.my, the website provides a sanctuary for writers express their views in a civil space and for readers to consume fresh and constructive ideas

Gigfairy – Gigfairy is a platform that is designed to help users book live music, discover new local artists, easily book artists and pay safely all whilst simultaneously creating more opportunities for musicians to do what they love – play music.

Mobile E-Commerce & Ultimate WWWOW Winner
Speedrent – Speedrent organises, uncomplicates and complements the home rental experience from start to finish – even during an ongoing tenancy relationship. All steps and procedures that once requires a property agent, paperwork, and numerous phone calls, are now accomplished with a couple of screen taps within the mobile app. Users are given control, clarity, and immediacy, for their rental experience. Speedrent is also the judges’ Ultimate WWWOW Winner 2015.

Social Media E-Commerce
The Rebellious Chickpea – The Rebellious Chickpea is a healthy food delivery service focused on fresh food produced daily and delivered to one’s doorstep. The Rebellious Chickpea buys fresh ingredients daily from the market and makes all food from scratch.

Social Impact
Project Iqra’ – Project Iqra’ is a Non-Governmental Organisation that created a platform focused on education for the underserved community via Kelas Rakyat. Kelas Rakyat is a remedial class for students that are weak in certain subjects and are unable to afford extra tuition classes.

Social Gathering
Stick It To Me – Stick It To Me is driven by the desire to help put a smile on terminally ill children. Founded by Kopi Soh, the positive healing art is meant to make those who are battling congenital or chronic illnesses and other terminal diseases feel less alone. The healing art either drawn by Kopi Soh herself, or donated by various artists is also a way to show support and gives strength to the families. Individuals, hospices, hospitals and support groups from all over the world have requested for healing art.

People’s Choice Award
Lee Jinq Rui – Lee Jinq Rui is an independent film maker who created a short film called My Name is Joe which has already had over 1,700 views on YouTube. The short film is about a guy going through a really sad life and wants to pursue happiness but instead gets into even more trouble.

The Digi WWWOW Awards 2015 saw over 14,204 votes submitted between 1 and 19 November 2015. This year’s event were supported by Google, Doghouse 73 Pictures, Exponential, KFit, MobMe Asia, Sizmek, The Ming Thing, Uber Malaysia, and Zalora.
