SEDANIA Innovator Berhad has entered into a partnership with U Mobile Sdn Bhd to provide Airtime Sharing (ATS) services via SEDANIA’s proprietary platform.
The partnership, which was signed today will enable U Mobile prepaid subscribers to use Airtime Sharing (ATS) starting from early second half of 2016. U Mobile Prepaid subscribers will be able to transfer and request for mobile credits/airtime from other users via short messaging service (SMS) as well as the recently-launched ‘ShareShare’ mobile application (app) for iOS and Android.
“Our partnership with U Mobile is an exciting prospect, because we are enabling U Mobile to offer a new and convenient method for domestic ATS transactions. Moreover, we are collaborating with a brand that has a strong affinity with the younger generation, and where 77% of their subscribers are smartphone users.’ said Firoz Mohd Noor, Executive Director of SEDANIA Innovator Berhad.
He added that “this tie-up is certainly opportune, following the recent launch of our ‘ShareShare’ mobile app that empowers seamless peer-to-peer ATS transactions, among other services.”
“The increased addressable market of approximately 58 million is expected to augur well for our financial performance for the year ending 31 December 2016 (FY2016) and onwards. We are optimistic that this collaboration with a fast-growing brand will propel the velocity of the Group’s overall transaction volume, and induce a behaviour of sharing amongst peers, or perhaps in future, within families and other community groups.” he said.
Other Sedania list of partners for the Airtime Transfer and reload services include Celcom Axiata Berhad, Maxis Berhad and Tune Talk Sdn Bhd in Malaysia, as well as Robi Axiata Limited in Bangladesh. Altogether, the service is available to 58 million subscribers.
“U Mobile is always looking to add value and enhance our customer’s experience. Mobile credit transfer is fast becoming the preferred method for prepaid users to send mobile credits to their family and friends and U Mobile is proud to partner with SEDANIA Innovator to offer the service.” said Jasmine Lee, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of U Mobile Sdn Bhd.
U Mobile prepaid subscribers will soon be able to transfer mobile credits to other U Mobile prepaid subscribers via SMS and USSD Menu Browser (UMB). This service will be also available on the ‘ShareShare’ app. Jasmine said that the mobile credit transfer service details will be available on U Mobile’s website once the service is ready.
Currently U Mobile has close to 4 million subscribers, 90% of them are using prepaid. Some 77% of the user base are smartphone users.
