Digi Female Employees get 6-Month fully paid maternity leave

Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd announced its new 6-month fully paid maternity policy for its employees effective 1 Jan 2016. The first of its kind in Malaysia, the new policy will leave a major impact on women working at Digi as the policy aims to empower more women and female leaders in the organisation.

“We are extremely proud to institute the new global six-month standard maternity leave here in Malaysia. It is our goal to attract and retain the best talent, male or female, and we are confident that the revised maternity leave policy will make Digi not only a very attractive place to work, but also a place in which women can build careers, continue to fill the ranks of our leadership and play a key role in supporting their families,” said Albern Murty, Digi’s Chief Executive Officer.

“Diversity is the aim of many organisations, but it is in inclusivity that the real difference is made. We are committed to continue building an organisation that better reflects the world we live in. And do this by ensuring a workplace that is friendly and conducive for all Digizens, giving them equal opportunity to contribute, and the freedom to do their best at Digi and for their families,” said Albern.

Currently, 45% of Digi’s employees are women, with strong female representation in its leadership, including at senior management and Board levels. The company’s Board now comprises 43% female representation, which exceeds the Malaysian government’s target of 30% women participation in Boards of public listed companies. Digi intends to stay ahead on this, and all other aspects of diversity and inclusion.
