edotco to build new sites in Cyberjaya, allowing mobile operators to quickly deploy 4G LTE

edotco Malaysia Sdn Bhd (edotco) today launched its High Speed Mobility Solution for Cyberjaya, in partnership with Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd, the master developer of the global technology hub township, and its subsidiary, Setia Haruman Technology who owns the citywide fibre network that interconnects all buildings and towers. This ready infrastructure is able to power up not only high speed wireless connectivity and 4G LTE but other future mobile network technology.

Upon full implementation of the planned 22 High Speed Mobility Solution sites, worth RM5 million, Cyberjaya will become the first township where network operators can rapidly offer high speed internet and 4G LTE connectivity without a major network investment. edotco said it has already set up 40-50% of the sites and expects to fully implement all 22 sites by end of June 2016.

The network solution from edotco, which integrates the benefits of fiber, common antenna and towers offers substantial benefits to network operators, such as:

  • Faster deployment of a Plug & Play model – saving on bandwidth lease as operators are not required to invest on microwave equipment for back haul;
  • Common radio frequency (RF) antenna sharing;
  • Aesthetic design to harmonize with the skyline;
  • Enhanced network coverage and capacity within the vicinity;
  • Cost-effective with up to 35 percent savings compared to traditional sites deployment

Described in the industry as a “Base Transceiver Station (BTS) Hotel”, the High Speed Mobility Solution aggregates fixed and wireless traffic resources into a single location to provide shared network connectivity to the operators. This makes it an ideal solution for visionary townships that emphasize skyline harmonization for space-constrained areas, while promoting shared infrastructure, edotco said.

edotco Group CEO, Suresh Sidhu said, “At edotco, we recognized the different telecommunication needs in each market and we develop innovative solutions to address them. Our solutions have the entire eco-system in mind – MNOs, governments, regulators, end-users and communities. This partnership with Setia Haruman affirms our commitment to enable connectivity in the country, where in this case we establish high quality shared telecoms infrastructure in Cyberjaya for network operators.”

Present to officiate the launch of edotco’s High Speed Mobility Solution were Dato’ Mohd Ali Hanafiah Mohd Yunus, Chief Officer, Communications and Digital Ecosystem, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Ir. Wan Murdani Wan Mohamad, Director, Digital Enablement of Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
