Huawei showcased Malaysia’s fastest indoor speed of 1Gbps

One of the leading network solution company in the world, Huawei, showcased Malaysia’s fastest indoor speed of 1Gbps at the Malaysia Small Cell Industry Summit in front of 200 summit participants and renowned industry leaders. The Summit was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur City Centre recently.

The network giant said that indoor network accounts for 70% of mobile traffic today. Compared with outdoor network, indoor coverage is often very poor in Malaysia. This is due to the traditional indoor network system, which has been in place for a decade and is not able to cope with the fast growing demands for mobile broadband any more. Furthermore, it is a challenge to deploy traditional indoor network system, and the process to obtain the necessary installation permits can be tedious and lengthy.

Huawei said that its digitalized small cell is designed to address this issue, particularly in busy areas where mobile traffic can get congested. Huawei’s centralized radio access network (C-RAN) architecture allows ease in capacity expansion and deployment. Cells can be dynamically split to meet capacity requirement, and new technologies can be easily attached via software upgrade, thus strengthening network speed up to 1Gbps, it claims. Difficulty of construction and deployment cycle is also significantly reduced as the digitalized small cell system uses ethernet cable for installation.

Foo Fang Yong, Vice President of Huawei Malaysia Carrier Business, strongly believes that this new technology will help develop and enhance network quality faster and cost-efficiently without compromising on customers’ network experience. “Customers can look forward to super-fast data speeds, be it within buildings or in crowded areas,” he said.

“We look forward to working closely with various stakeholders such as the Malaysian government, industry operators and network integrators, property developers and owners, as well as other industry partners to bring the latest technologies into Malaysia to meet customers’ growing demands and stay ahead of evolving trends.”

With experience in the Small Cell field for over 8 years, Huawei’s small cell solutions have been commercially deployed and implemented in over a hundred countries.
