MCMC issues compounds totaling RM660k to Malaysia Service Providers

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has issued compounds totaling RM660,000 against Celcom, Maxis, Digi and other Malaysia service providers.

Five compounds totaling RM60,000.00 were issued against three companies for non-compliance on quality of service. The compounds were issued to Celcom Axiata Berhad amounting to RM20,000.00, while other compounds each amounting RM10,000.00 were issued to Red One Network Sdn Bhd, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, Merchantrade Asia Sdn Bhd and Husa Network Sdn Bhd.

At the same time, 12 compounds totaling RM600,000.00 were issued for non-compliance to the “Guidelines On Registration of End-Users of Public Prepaid Cellular Services“. The offense is related to failure of the service providers to verify end-user information during the registration of prepaid SIM cards. Two compounds were issued to Maxis Mobile Services Sdn Bhd amounting to RM100,000.00, five compounds to DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd amounting to RM250,000.00 and five compounds to Celcom Mobile Sdn Bhd amounting to RM250,000.00; in which each compound is worth RM50,000.00.

MCMC said that it will continue to focus on quality of service and the registration of prepaid SIM cards. It said that it will take firm action including prosecution of the service provider or distributor who fails to comply with the requirements of the Mandatory Standards and Guidelines.

In the last quarter, MCMC issued compounds totaling RM510,000 for the same offenses.

MCMC Keluarkan Kompaun RM660,000 Kepada Syarikat-Syarikat Pemberi Perkhidmatan

CYBERJAYA, 30 Mei 2016 — Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia (MCMC) telah mengeluarkan lima kompaun berjumlah RM60,000.00 terhadap tiga syarikat pemberi perkhidmatan, dua syarikat Pengendali Rangkaian Maya Mudah Alih atau MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) dan sebuah badan penyiar kerana kesalahan ketidakpatuhan terhadap Standard Mandatori mengenai kualiti perkhidmatan.

Bagi kesalahan ini, satu kompaun telah dikeluarkan kepada Celcom Axiata Berhad berjumlah RM20,000.00, manakala satu kompaun masing-masing berjumlah RM10,000.00 kepada Red One Network Sdn Bhd, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, Merchantrade Asia Sdn Bhd dan Husa Network Sdn Bhd.

Pada masa yang sama, 12 kompaun berjumlah RM600,000.00 telah dikeluarkan untuk kesalahan ketidakpatuhan kepada “Guidelines On Registration of End-Users of Prepaid Public Cellular Services” iaitu kesalahan kegagalan membuat pengesahan maklumat pengguna akhir semasa pendaftaran kad sim prabayar. Dua kompaun telah dikeluarkan kepada Maxis Mobile Services Sdn Bhd berjumlah RM100,000.00, lima kompaun kepada DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd berjumlah RM250,000.00 dan lima kompaun kepada Celcom Mobile Sdn Bhd berjumlah RM250,000.00; yang mana setiap kompaun adalah bernilai RM50,000.00.

Kawalselia MCMC terus bertumpu kepada kualiti perkhidmatan dan pendaftaran kad sim prabayar. Justeru MCMC memandang serius terhadap kesalahan yang melibatkan pendaftaran kad sim prabayar dan akan mengambil tindakan tegas termasuk pendakwaan terhadap pemberi perkhidmatan atau pengedar yang gagal mematuhi kehendak Standard Mandatori dan Garis Panduan MCMC bagi memastikan hak dan kepentingan pengguna dipelihara.
